Enneagram Intro

Intro to the Enneagram

We'll be diving MUCH deeper into The Enneagram throughout the program, but I'm giving you a head start during Onboarding Week so you're even more prepared for the course.

As a wellness enthusiast & coach, I've spent over 30,000 hours researching, experimenting, failing, succeeding, and coaching around how to enjoyably get & stay healthy because mass-made programs completely failed to teach me. What did I learn?

To become your Ideal Health Self, you must understand your personality.

As a Duke Health Certified Executive Wellness Coach & Enneagram Fanatic, I help disappointed dieters from Executives to Empty Nesters slim down, tone up, think sharp, and keep going by discovering how they're wired – so they can stay consistent forever. And we start with their Enneagram Type.

Let's get into it.

1. What the Enneagram is

  • Ever heard of a compass for the soul? That’s the Enneagram for you.
  • In the simplest terms, the Enneagram is an ancient personality type system with uncanny accuracy in describing the motivations behind human behavior

  • The personality system has 9 distinct types, each representing a different worldview and set of motivations.
  • Think of it as a roadmap, but instead of leading you to buried treasure, it leads to understanding – of yourself, and of others. [arguably more valuable than gold 😉]

2. Its Significance and Validity

  • The Enneagram isn’t just a passing fad like slap bracelets or hyper color t-shirts (though both are trying to make a comeback).
  • With ancient roots, the Enneagram has been refined over centuries and is recognized in both spiritual and psychological circles.
  • Scientific studies have even backed its validity, revealing correlations between Enneagram types and various behavioral patterns.
  • So, while if you're a Type 6 and likely questioning its power, know that this isn't some cosmic mumbo-jumbo conjured over a pot of unicorn brew.

3. How it Impacts Your Health

  • This right here is my purpose & passion. I'm royally obsessed with both Wellness and The Enneagram, and I see an undeniable connection between who we are and how we health.
  • The Enneagram isn’t just about understanding why you rewatch the same TV series or how you socialize at parties.
  • It also offers profound insights into your health behaviors- like why you can't resist that extra cookie, or why you can't stay consistent with a fitness routine
  • By understanding your Enneagram Type, you can pinpoint why certain health practices resonate with you and why others fall flat. It’s like discovering your own personalized health cheat code. Healthier habits, tailored to you? Yep, that's what I'm all about.

4. A Quick Look at Each Type:

  • Type 1: The Perfectionist – Driven to improve the world, you're the one who ensures there's never a dirty dish in the sink.
  • Type 2: The Helper – With a heart as big as the outdoors, you’re always there to lend a hand, or a snack, or an organ.
  • Type 3: The Achiever – Goals? You've hit them all before breakfast. You're the poster child for getting stuff done.
  • Type 4: The Individualist – Deep and introspective, you feel all the feels and have an artistic flair others envy.
  • Type 5: The Investigator – Curious and innovative, if there's a question, you've either answered it or are on the case.
  • Type 6: The Loyalist – Reliable and hard-working, you're the human version of the trusty family dog (but with fewer fleas).
  • Type 7: The Enthusiast – A zest for life, always up for the next adventure. If fun had a face, it'd be yours.
  • Type 8: The Challenger – Bold and protective, you stand up for what's right and probably have a superhero cape in your closet.
  • Type 9: The Peacemaker – Easygoing and harmonious, you're the human equivalent of a cup of chamomile tea on a rainy day.

Your Triple Assignment:

  1. Review the Enneagram Types above
  2. Narrow down to two or three Types that resonate with you most
    1. *It can honestly take years of tests, books, and self-exploration to land on yours so no rush and no pressure. Just review & ponder.
    2. You'll receive more Enneagram Resources in the program, this is simply a primer.
  3. Write down your short list of potential Types in your dedicated TripleFit journal or notebook [Bonus points if you email it to me)

Congrats on completing Onboarding Lesson #3!
